Childbirth story: the birth of baby E.

The intensity increases in peaks

It's September 27, it's almost 10 p.m., I received a message from your mom. She has back pain “on and off” she asks me if this could be the start of labor. We are right at 41 weeks that day. We exchange a few messages, your mother describes other little signs that confirm what I think, you will arrive soon. I continue to talk with your mom from a distance, she tells me to get on all fours and roll her hips, around midnight things speed up and it's your dad who takes over to communicate with me.

The contractions are intense, close together, so close together that your dad tells me that he is not able to measure them, the pain in the back is almost present all the time and the intensity increases in peaks. Your dad guides your mom, he him suggests positions and do counter-pressures in the hips, that's the only thing that relieves her, it's 2 a.m. and your mom falls asleep between contractions.

your dad tells me your mom is 10 cm away

Around 6 a.m. your dad tells me that your mom is 10 cm away, I hurry to leave to join your parents. I arrive at the hospitall and your mother is sitting up in bed, she is very relieved by her epidural and she has a big smile, I find her sunny even after her sleepless night. Around 7:30 a.m. the nurse suggests that she start pushing, your mother tries several positions, but you still seem quite high in the pelvis.

Around 8 a.m. the doctor examines your mother again and offers her a game plan, stop the flare-ups, get up to lower you into the pool and start synthetic oxytocin, because you are still at station -1.

Your mom gets up, goes to empty her bladder, performs slots on his ball and continues to move, around 9 a.m. she lies down again with the peanut cushion between her legs to open her pelvis and regain strength. The sleepless night and the contractions have put a lot of strain on her, she needs to rest and close her eyes a little, she is exhausted.

Around 9:45 a.m. the doctor examines your mother again. You went down to station +1, your mother chose to wait another hour before starting to push again to let you down. She sits on her knees, facing the headboard and cushions are placed under her head and under her buttocks so she can continue to rest while you continue on your way.

The start of the push

Around 10:30 a.m. your mother starts pushing again, she is strong, determined, she pushes to the side, on all fours, crouching. Your dad gets on the bed and stands behind her to support her. She leans against him during contractions, he kisses her, caresses her cheek and encourages her with pretty words, all this love is just beautiful and sweet.

The doctor comes back several times during the flare-up, around 1 p.m. your little heart starts to show signs of fatigue. According to the doctor, you should be born within the next 30 minutes. You still seem "stuck" at station +1, something is stopping you from getting off. Several options are offered to your mother and a cesarean section is finally chosen after more than 2.5 hours of pushing.

Welcome to the world baby E

Around 1:15 p.m. your mom goes on a cesarean section with a lot of emotion, it tugs at my heart to see her in this state, I accompany your dad to the entrance to the operating room. The rest of this story will be told to me by your parents, you will be born at 2:13 p.m., in good health, and your mother will take care of you skin to skin during the end of the cesarean section.

The cesarean section remains a powerful birth like any other, welcome to the world baby E, may your life be as sweet and beautiful as the cocoon in which your parents welcomed you.
